Sint-Niklaas, December 1st 2007


In sportscenter "De Witte Molen" was organised the Waasland Cup 2007.
Purpose of this fundraising championship was to collect funds for Eric Van Puyvelde, 23 years old, who got paralysed during a severe accident at his work.
Eric is the brother of Peter, I°degree, member of the national team.

Besides the schools affiliated to ITF-Belgium, also Taekyon Berghem and NTA (Nederlandse Taekwon-do Associatie), both from The Netherlands, were present. About 160 competitors participated.

The championship could start on time, 10h, and ended before 17h. On 3 rings there was tul and sparring for coloured and black belts, juniors (6-17) and seniors.

At this moment, the exact amount that was collected is not known yet, but as soon as possible, Eric Van Puyvelde will receive an official cheque, and pictures will be published on this website.

Just before the lunchbreak, at 12h30, the raincoats of the Youth Clothing Project of the National Lottery were distibuted to the belgian schools; from now on they can give their members under 18 this present of the National Lottery.
In April the project was approved, and ITF-Belgium became one of the national sportsfederations that received support of the Nationale Loterij-Loterie Nationale for the youth members.
